Post office move proposed for North Branch

NORTH BRANCH, NY — A representative of the United States Post Service (USPS) was scheduled as of press time to attend a Town of Callicoon public meeting at the North Branch Volunteer Fire Department Building on January 18 to announce a proposed move of the post office located in North Branch. The USPS has been engaged in national re-evaluation of its faculties and is considering moving the retail operation located at 868 North Branch Rd. to a yet-to-be determined nearby location.

If the relocation is approved, postal retail services will remain in the community at a different physical location within the same geographical 12766 ZIP Code area. There will be no changes to mail delivery, customers’ addresses or post office boxes as a result of this change. Retail services will continue at the current site until such time as all necessary preparations are completed at the new location.

Written comments on the proposal will be accepted until February 21 and can be submitted to Michael K. Bullard, Real Estate Specialist, United States Postal Service, Facilities Service Office, PO Box 27497, Greensboro, NC 27498-1103, or email michael.k.bullard@usps.gov.

USPS receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
