SHAWANGUNK, NY — The New York State Police at Ellenville arrested Daniel T. Keddis, 23, from the Bronx, for arson and reckless endangerment.

On December 23, troopers from Ellenville, Highland, Middletown and the Ulster County Sheriff’s Office responded to the Town of Shawangunk for a naked individual attempting to burn down a residence.

Further investigation revealed Keddis used an accelerant and lit an occupied residence on fire. In the process of lighting the residence on fire Keddis unintentionally lit himself on fire.

Keddis was located near the scene and arrested. Keddis does not live at the residence, and it’s not clear why he wanted to burn it down.

He was arraigned in the Town of Gardiner Court in front of Town Justice Robert Rich. Keddis was remanded to Ulster County Jail in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
