MONTICELLO, NY — For the eighth year, Monticello has been awarded the designation of “Best Community for Music Education” by the National Association of Music Merchants (NAAM). According to the NAMM press release dated April 4, 2017, “The award program recognizes outstanding efforts by teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders who have made music education part of the curriculum. Designations are made to districts and schools that demonstrate an exceptionally high commitment and access to music education.”
“I would like to thank our administrators, parents, community leaders, teachers and students who believe in the importance of music in our schools,” Nancy
Wegrzyn, department instructional lead of the performing arts said.
“Anyone who attends a performance by our music students can clearly see the impact that our music teachers have in this community,” superintendent of schools Tammy Mangus said. “I am proud that once again, the NAAM has chosen to recognize our teachers’ and students’ dedication and talent with this distinction.”
