Matching funds available for Sullivan projects

MONTICELLO, NY — Applications are being accepted on a rolling basis for the remaining funding available through the Sullivan County Plans & Progress Small Grants Program, according to Planning and Environmental Management Commissioner Freda Eisenberg.

“The program provides up to $10,000 in matching funds to assist local municipalities and community and not-for-profit organizations throughout Sullivan County with projects related to tourism, community and economic development, image enhancement, trails development, health improvement, agricultural and farmland protection, and other county goals,” Eisenberg said. “Awards made earlier this year have supported capital improvements to municipal parks and trails, local museums and facilities serving veterans and households in need.”

“I encourage interested agencies to apply for this funding. It’s already resulted in many positive projects coming to fruition,” District 9 legislator and planning committee chair Alan Sorensen affirmed. “Applicants need not fear the process either—our planners can help you every step of the way, showing you what’s needed in order to realize your vision.”

Applications will be reviewed by the program committee as they are received, until all remaining funds are committed. The grant guidelines and application form are available on the Planning and Environmental Management page on the Sullivan County website, under “Technical Assistance & Funding Opportunities.” Completed applications can be submitted electronically or delivered to the Division of Planning and Environmental Management, County Government Center, 100 North Street, Monticello, NY 12701.
