Kristt to be honored by SYDA

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — Monticello businessman Les Kristt has been chosen as this year’s recipient of the SYDA Foundation Community Service Award for service to the community. The award comes with a $5,000 gift.

The award will be presented to Kristt at the Sullivan County monthly meeting in the government center in Monticello on November 16 at 2 p.m.

Kristt is a Sullivan County native who returned to Sullivan County after attending Cornell University to run the family business. With his business partner Gene Kelly, Kristt operates the successful Kristt Kelly Office Systems in Monticello and Honesdale, PA.

Kristt has also been an active member of many local organizations. He served as president and treasurer of the Monticello Rotary Club and was chair of the Monticello Bicentennial Committee and the Sullivan Hospitality Program.

He currently is chair of the committee that organizes the annual Monster Run 5k, which last year raised more than $8,000 for the Sullivan County Veterans Coalition.

Kristt has been honored twice by the Sullivan County NAACP for supporting the organization’s mission to “ensure a society in which all individuals have equal rights without discrimination based on race.”

Kristt and his wife Amy have four children.

The SYDA Foundation is a nonprofit organization based in South Fallsburg has been offering Siddha Yoga meditation to students around the world since 1979.
