MOUNT HOPE, NY — On April 5, Sen. Jen Metzger presented proclamations to officers John Skoufis and Sean Burke capturing two dangerous fugitives in Otisville earlier this year.
On January 9, officers received a report of a couple peering into cars near Otisville. The two were identified as Kristan Broussard, 33, and Ursula Bourque, 30, who were wanted by police in Louisiana. Broussard was wanted in connection with a second degree murder charge and Bourque was wanted for a parole violation. The two were the subject of a manhunt at the time.
Police say the couple entered a pizza shop, and, after confirming their identities, the two officers entered the shop with guns drawn, ordered the couple to the floor and arrested them.
At the event honoring the two officers, Metzger said, “With their exemplary police work, Officer Burke and Officer Skoufis have demonstrated the very best of our local law enforcement,” said Metzger “It shows in the work they do every day, on and off duty, to ensure the safety and well-being of our communities.”
Also present at the ceremony were Sen. James Skoufis, who is officer Skoufis’s nephew, Mount Hope Supervisor Chad Volpe, town board member Christopher Furman and Mount Hope Police Chief Paul Rickard.
