HARRISBURG, PA — Sen. Lisa Baker (R-Pike/Wayne/Luzerne/Susquehanna/Wyoming), along with Reps. Mike Peifer (R-Pike/Wayne), Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna/Wayne) and Rosemary Brown (R-Monroe/Pike) on January 29 announced that 12 projects will receive $1,802,486 in funding through the Monroe County Local Share Account from the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

“We are committed to working cooperatively with our elected officials and community leaders to advance locally identified, priority projects and hopefully ease some of the burden for local taxpayers,” said Baker.

The grants are awarded to counties contiguous to Monroe County, and the funds come from an assessment on revenues at Mount Airy Casino.

“I commend the hard work of those involved with securing grants for these worthwhile community projects,” said Peifer. “Each of these developments provides enhancements for our region.”

“I am pleased to see these funds being allocated in a responsible way by the counties that are contiguous to Monroe County,” said Fritz. “Smart investment of LSA money pays dividends for years to come.”

“There are many needs throughout our community, and as legislators, we connect continuously with people to understand each and every one of these,” Brown said. “These grants definitely help to address some of these needs and work to support the people of our region.”
