Narrowsburg News 1/4
Happy New Year! We made it through another holiday season and even woke up to a white Christmas in Narrowsburg, with a manageable three inches of snow. I hope you got a cozy sweater and boots under your tree, because baby it’s cold outside!
No matter the temperature, at our house we’re eking out a few more days of holiday vacation. The sleds and snowpants are being put to good use. We’re finishing up the last cut-out cookies. And my two munchkins are realizing their dreams of being a train engineer and a mermaid, thanks to a little help from Santa.
We live in a tiny cottage, so I’ve been cleaning out dusty corners and overcrowded closets in my house creating space for all the new toys and other goodies we received over the holidays. It’s a good week for donating things we’re not using anymore to local thrift stores (Salvation Army in Honesdale, PA has a convenient drive-through donation drop off). It’s also a great time to sit back and imagine what we can make happen in the new year.
One of my resolutions for 2018 is to resume attending Tusten Town Board meetings (the second Tuesday of every month at 6:30 p.m.). It’s an exciting time of growth and change for Narrowsburg, and the board meetings are the best place to get informed. The first meeting of the new year is on Tuesday, January 9 at Tusten Town Hall, 210 Bridge St. Maybe I’ll see you there. The Town of Tusten is also now on Facebook. Visit www.facebook.com/TownofTusten to learn about news and happenings.
If you’re looking for a gentle re-boot of mind and body this weekend, Narrowsburg has you covered with two events on Saturday, January 6. The Skate of the Union pop-up ice rink on Kirk Road is frozen solid and officially opens at 12 noon. Admission is free, and there are skates available for borrowing, thanks to the Tusten Youth Commission. And later in the afternoon from 3 to 6 p.m., The Chi Hive at 22 Main St. is hosting an event designed to stimulate all the senses. Attendees will get a sampling of yoga, meditation, a river walk, a food tasting and live music. For more details, visit www.facebook.com/chihive or call 718/314-0161.
