New Barryville Farmers’ Market
BARRYVILLE, NY — The Board of the Barryille Farmers’ Market announced the establishment of a new market that will be held at the United Methodist Church and on the adjacent Conway property.
The new market will take place Saturdays, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 18 through October 26.. The exact address is 3405 Scenic Route 97, Barryville, NY 12719.
Confirmed vendors include Beaver Dam Brook Farms, The Bakehouse Bakery, Beach Lake Bakery, Tonjes Farm Dairy, Hilly Acres, Quails R Us and newcomers including Bialecki Farms, Red Fern Farms, 2 Queens (tea & honey), Pickles & Pie (flowers and more), Catskill Provisions (maple syrup, whiskey), Stickett Inn Cider, Nonna Ceramika (pottery), Highland Kitchen and Go Pal Farms (heirloom vegetables and prepared foods).
“The most important thing in establishing this new market is to bring everyone to the table, so to speak,” said president John Pizzolato. “We want to promote the interests of the community, non-profits, local businesses and, most of all, the farmers. Our goal is to create a connectivity hub for everyone who wants to be involved.”
The new Barryville Farmers’ Market is a not-for-profit and aspires to support the community with a variety of initiatives. Grants, donations and profits from the market will help fund the church’s backpack program, which feeds children in need in the greater Barryville area. The new group also plans to repair and improve the church’s grounds and garden and will participate in the Farmers Market Nutrition Programs. Additionally, there will be inclusive programming, including entertainment, demonstrations and workshops.
“It has really taken a village to put this market together, but that is what will make it great. It is about the community, by the community. Our first market will feature a registration table for the upcoming “Can’t Hurt Steal” 5k walk/run fundraiser as well as nature walk by The Outside Institute,” Pizzolato said.
