Peter Kolesar is professor emeritus of Columbia University. His mathematical research, often in partnership with Jim Serio of Hancock, NY, led to the Upper Delaware River’s original 2007 Flexible Flow Management Plan (FFMP) and to several improvements since. Kolesar has done path-breaking research in many fields including the deployment of New York City fire companies and police patrol, early glaucoma diagnosis, congestion in telephone call centers and counter-IED warfare in Iraq and Afghanistan. He is also an avid fisherman and photographer who almost always has his camera by him on the water, as this photo essay attests.
