Garbage dump leads to arrest

LIBERTY, NY — On May, 5, the Sullivan County Sheriff’s Patrol was called to investigate a dumping complaint on Barton Road in the Town of Liberty. At the location, deputies met with Town Supervisor Brian Rourke, who pointed out where several bags of garbage had been thrown.

Master Gardener plant sale

LIBERTY, NY — The public is invited to the annual Master Gardener Volunteer Plant Sale on Sunday, May 20 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., or while supplies last. The popular Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC) fundraiser will be held at the Extension Education Center on 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd.

Take charge of managing your health

LIBERTY, NY — A course titled “Living Healthy, Living Well,” a free evidence-based program from the Self-Management Resource Center developed by Stanford University, will be held on Thursdays from May 10 to June 14. Sessions will run from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at the Extension Education Center on 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd.

Sullivan projects receive $2.5 million

MONTICELLO, NY— Gov. Cuomo’s office has announced grants totaling $2.5 million, which will go to restore three properties in the towns of Rockland and Liberty and the Village of Liberty. The grants, from a project called Restore New York Communities Initiative, were announced on March 26.

Easter egg hunt in Liberty

LIBERTY, NY — An Easter egg hunt will take place on Saturday, March 24 in the Village of Liberty. All activities are free thanks to the Town of Liberty Parks & Recreation Department, Liberty Public Library and Liberty Elks Lodge. In the event of rain, the event will be postponed to Sunday, March 25.

LIBERTY, NY — The public is invited to a web seminar titled “Holistic Aging: Mind, Body, & Soul” on Monday, March 19. Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC)’s Caregiver Resource Center offers this free program from 6 to 7 p.m. at its Extension Education Center on 64 Ferndale-Loomis Rd. Refreshments will be provided.
