I just came back from a seven-day cruise to the Bahamas with my family. It was nice—I did not get sea sick at all, thank God. I had the patch, took pills and had bands on my wrists.

As my brother would say, “Only my sister Eileen meets people everywhere she goes.” I was walking toward the nightclub on the ship, and a lady stopped me and said, “Are you from Obernberg?” I knew her face right away, and I said, “No, I am Eileen Hennessy from Cochecton.” She said, “Hi, I am Mary, and I know you from The Callicoon Brewery.” We went back and forth naming names and told each other to have a good night.

When I got home I had a message from Jean Kerrigan’s niece Karen letting me know that Jean’s sister, Marie Kerrigan Smith, had passed away. Marie had been sick with cancer for many years; she was a very strong woman, but the death of her two sons really got to her. Marie sold her house in Medford, Long Island and moved down to Stuart, VA with her daughter Anita and her husband Kenny. The angels came and got Marie at the age of 90 (or 91) on Monday, February 27. Marie was cremated and later will be buried with her son Jeff, who lived with her and passed away last year. Marie and Jeff will be laid to rest with Marie’s husband at the Calverton National Veterans Cemetery. Jean must be very happy to have her sister with her again; they were Irish twins, born within 12 months of each other.

I just called to check in with Dolores Manaseri and got to talk to Joe. He said Dolores is doing well; she is in a very nice rehab center. When they got down to Florida, Dolores was very weak. She went to the ER and needed a blood transfusion. Joe goes to visit her every morning to talk to the doctors, and he comes back in the afternoon to spend time with her and to see how she did for the day. Joe would like you all to know he is holding up and getting some fishing and golfing in.

In the month of March I will be collecting taxes in the town hall on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4 to 6 p.m. If you need to make an appointment for a different time you can call me and leave a message; I will get back to you.

Have a great week and email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news. Please give me some news I can write about, and keep smiling.
