I am writing my column on Saturday April 15, 20 years to the day after Tommy and I purchased our home in Cochecton Center. Time sure does fly; it seems like yesterday that we moved up from Bellerose, Queens. I was out and about today, and as I was driving through Lake Huntington I saw that Old Fire House Antiques was open. Their official opening is Memorial Day Weekend. With such great weather, Paul Genco and Sharon Chopping opened it early to get ready. I was looking around, and they have some really neat stuff, so if you are in the neighborhood stop in.

The county has not given out the dates for litter pluck yet. Jerry Yavarkovsky of Keep Cochecton Clean is trying to get people together to pick up litter along the roads. Give Jerry a call at 845/932-8210.
Lake Huntington Presbyterian Church is having a penny social on Saturday April 22 at the church hall on County Road 116. Doors open at 11:30 a.m.; calling starts at 12:30 p.m.; a $1 donation is requested for admission. Food for purchase, free coffee and cake after calling.

The Lake Huntington Fire Company Pancake and French Toast Breakfast is on Sunday April 30, from 7 a.m. to 12 noon, 70 County Rd. 116, adults $8, kids five to 12 $5, kids under four free. For more information call RuthAnn at 845/932-8514.

The Cochecton Youth Group is looking for a dedicated and energetic member of the Cochecton community to join our youth board. If you are interested call or text Sue Rodriguez at 845/866 0853. Feel free to join our monthly meetings, which take place the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at the Cochecton Town Hall.

The Arrowhead dart team sponsored by the Nutshell in Lake Huntington just competed in the Challenger Cup finals in the Catskill Amusement Dart League. After winning their quarter- and semi-finals, they matched up against McCabes Pub in the finals. It was played at each team’s sponsors, first at the Nutshell, where the Arrowheads won 8-5, and the following week at McCabes, where they won 10-3. to win the series. Members if the Arrowheads are Julius Valunius, Chris Story, Patrick Pierce and Gary Maas.

I would like to wish Maria Forlenza, Penny Heinle and Jamie Meyer a very happy and healthy birthday.

Keep smiling and email leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
