It’s that time of year when penny socials and fundraisers are being held. Saturday night, I helped put on a dance for the Narrowsburg Ecumenical Food Pantry with Joann Latrende. The best part of the dance was seeing Ken Baim line dancing just one week after he had four stents put in. Ken says he is feeling good and would like to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers.

The food pantry would like to thank everyone who helped support the fundraiser dance: DJ Dancing Dan and his lovely wife Flo for great music and fun entertainment; all the local businesses who donated prizes to the raffle; all who baked and brought food; and, of course, all who brought tickets. The food pantry raised over $1,200 and we could not have done it without all of your help.

On Saturday, May 18 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., the Grover Hermann Hospital Auxilary in Callicoon is having a chicken BBQ. Tickets cost $10 and you can get them from any auxilary member or at the nurse’s station. All orders are take out, and there will be 50/50 and a tricky tray. For more information, call Justine at 845/798-3600.

The Sullivan County Federation (SCF) for the Homeless is having a great indoor yard sale on May 18 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds benefit SCF for the Homeless and the Boys & Girls Clubs in Sullivan County.

Remember, the Litter Pluck continues until May 31. The Town of Cochecton is having their clean-up day on Saturday, May 18 and Sunday, May 19 from 9 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Plucked trash will be accepted for free at Sullivan County transfer stations with identifying stickers.

On Saturday, June 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., a community yard sale will be held on Heinle’s Field, rain or shine, with a bake sale and refreshments. Call Sharon Umnik at 845/252-7463 by June 5 to make a reservation for a 10 x 10-foot space with a donation cost of $15. You must supply your own table and tent. Set up begins at 8 a.m. This is a benefit for the Cochecton Center Community Center, Inc. A tour of the church building will occur at 11 a.m.

Keep smiling and have a great week. You can e-mail me at leeniebeans@citlink.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have any news. You can always check me out at riverreporter.com in Community Living.
