I stopped by Dog Mountain Lodge boarding kennel last week, and as I was there, one of the owners, Dean, asked me if I wanted a tour. I said yes, along with a quick prayer that all the animals were in locked cages. I am really not a pet person. When I go to my sister’s, my nephew-dog Henry always sleeps with me. He snores like my husband did and growls when I roll over. In the first room there were little dogs, then medium dogs and in the last room, large dogs, where the first one that caught my eye was the size of a little pony with a tiny dog in the same cage. I was told they live together and do not want to be separated. A gorgeous grey-blue dog next to the pair was looking at me like I was a piece of meat hanging on a hook. When we went outside to see the dogs playing, Dean showed me the paperwork he keeps on each dog. It was very cool to see how they keep track of each dog’s friends. Although I was sniffing the whole time, there were no foul smells—not even a speck of dust. Dog Mountain Lodge is amazing.
