In case you did not know it, winter is here, and the Christmas parties have begun. On Friday I went to the Catskill Mountains Resort for an office party. They were very nice; I am a very picky eater, and they made what I wanted. On Saturday was The Red Hatters of Lake Huntington’s Christmas party at The Lakeview Luncheonette. Please keep the queen mom, Dolores Manaseri, in your prayers. She is in the hospital, doing well, and hopes to be home for Christmas.

After the party, I drove my friend Olga back to Callicoon. OMG, it was the drive from hell. The snow was so heavy you could not see, and as soon as we hit Callicoon—no snow, nothing. At 7 p.m. I was supposed to go to Matson’s Bar and Grill for a Pete’s Pub reunion—forgetaboutit. I just wanted to get home. With the snow coming, please be safe when driving.

I got a phone call on Friday from Angela Beatley, telling me her cousin Marie Gargano passed away. Marie and her husband Vinnie lived on Olsen Road in Lake Huntington. Marie worked with me in Pete’s Pub, and she also worked in Lake View Luncheonette when Pete and Kathy ran it. Marie came to Sullivan County from Brooklyn, NY and lived here for 10 years. When the love of her life, Vinnie, passed away, she moved to Las Vegas to be by her son and his family. Marie was 83. She had a stroke a few weeks back and passed away on December 5. I know one person in heaven who is very happy: Marie is going to join my husband Tommy. He loved Marie. May Marie rest in peace, and love and prayers to her family.

Happy birthday to Jerry Yavarkovsky. Hope you have a great day, and thank you for all you do for the kids of our community.

The Lake Huntington Fire Company is selling tickets for their New Year’s Day chicken barbeque. Ask any of the firefighters and they can hook you up, or call RuthAnn at 845/932-8514. It is take-out only, for $10 each from 3 p.m. until sold out.

Have a great week and email me at leeniebeans@cit link.net or call 845/252-3568 if you have news.
