LACKAWAXEN, PA — The Delaware Highlands Conservancy announces an Eagle Watch Volunteer Training Day on December 1, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Inn at Lackawaxen. New volunteers are asked to arrive at 9 a.m. Then, both new and existing volunteers will gather from 10:30 a.m. to 12 noon.

Lackawaxen seal story lives on

HONESDALE, PA — A picture of a seal said to be in the Lackawaxen River and video purportedly of the same thing have been making the rounds on social media lately. It all started shortly after September 16, when John Joseph Fotusky shot footage of an animal swimming in the river (tinyurl.com/y7m5cpjh).

Scandinavian Craft Fair

LACKAWAXEN, PA — The Bernt Balchen Lodge #3-566 Sons of Norway will hold a Scandinavian Craft Fair at the Lackawaxen Volunteer Firehouse, 774 Rte. 590, on Saturday, September 8. There will be Scandinavian and American Arts and Crafts, Rosemaling folk art wood-carving demonstration, Scandinavian decorative and household items.

York wins conservancy scholarship

WAYNE COUNTY, PA — The Lackawaxen River Conservancy has announced that Travis York of Wallenpaupack Area High School has been awarded The Lackawaxen River Conservancy Scholarship for 2018. Travis received his scholarship award of $500 at the awards assembly at Wallenpapupack Area High School on Friday, June 15.
