SEEDS gets new director

HONESDALE, PA — Sandy Long, a contributor to The River Reporter’s River Talk column, is the new executive director of the non-profit energy and environmental education organization, SEEDS.

SEEDS serves the northeast region of Pennsylvania, promoting sustainable energy and sustainable living through projects and awareness-raising.

HONESDALE, PA — The new president of the Wayne Highlands School Board George Korb presided over his first board meeting on January 15.

As dozens of Whyte’s colleagues looked on Rep. (and former Commissioner) Jonathan Fritz joined a tearful Andrea Whyte at the speaker’s table and asked, “Do you know why we’re all here today? Because you deserve it. You’ve had such an incredibly profound influence on so many people. You’re a beautiful example of what we all aspire to be.”

Saying good-bye to ‘Andy’

HONESDALE, PA —  An era in Wayne County government came to a close last week with the retirement of Andrea Whyte as director of Wayne’s Human Services Department.

In a period when government officials often seem to be filing out through a revolving door, Whyte last fall completed her 45th year with Wayne County.

HONESDALE, PA — The Wayne Commissioners finished up the last of their budget work on January 3, when they approved the short-term loan that will carry the county through until Wayne’s new property tax collections accumulate.
