Celebrating 40 Years at WMH

HONESDALE, PA — Mike Clifford, chief financial officer for Wayne Memorial Health System, and two other employees were honored for four decades of service at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Barbara Lubinski, RN/ICU and Sandy Rowe/Oncology shared the recognition with Clifford at a service awards dinner held June 21 at Lukan’s Farm Resort, Hawley.

Alzheimer’s programs

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC)’s Caregiver Resource Center offers several free Alzheimer’s workshops this summer. The first, “The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia, & Alzheimer’s Disease, is on Wednesday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Grief support group

HONESDALE, PA — A free support group designed to help people cope with the grieving process will be offered at Wayne Memorial Hospital. The six-week session will provide support and focus on grief as a normal part of an individual’s transition through life.  The sessions will be held Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m.

HONESDALE, PA — Hard hats on and industrial pens in hand, members of the Wayne Memorial Hospital/Health System Board of Trustees signed the ceremonial “last” steel beam to be hoisted into the framework of the new patient tower.

Summer tune-up

Our summer has started, and we are experiencing higher outside temperatures and an increased chance of insect bites, sunburns and possible dehydration, heat exhaustion or stroke (hyperthermia). This article will highlight health strategies to prevent these types of summer health problems.

More patients may be eligible for stroke treatment

HONESDALE, PA — In May, National Stroke Awareness Month, Wayne Memorial Hospital announced that some stroke patients who were previously ineligible for certain treatments may now qualify for those treatments.

Walk to End Alzheimer’s tricky tray

WHITE LAKE, NY — There will be a tricky tray to support the Sullivan & Orange Walk to End Alzheimer’s on Sunday, July 8, at White Lake Fire House, 1596 Route 17B. Doors open at 1 p.m., calling is at 3 p.m. Admission is a $2 donation. There will be raffle prizes, including a 32-inch flat-screen TV. Refreshments will be available.
