Looking Back

Although Philip Hone became a symbol of upper class New York City, his life began in 1780 as the younger son of a poor carpenter. At the age of 16, he joined his brother’s auctioneering business. By the time he was 35, it had made him a very wealthy man, enabling him to retire at the age of 41.

Celebrating 40 Years at WMH

HONESDALE, PA — Mike Clifford, chief financial officer for Wayne Memorial Health System, and two other employees were honored for four decades of service at Wayne Memorial Hospital. Barbara Lubinski, RN/ICU and Sandy Rowe/Oncology shared the recognition with Clifford at a service awards dinner held June 21 at Lukan’s Farm Resort, Hawley.

Alzheimer’s programs

SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC)’s Caregiver Resource Center offers several free Alzheimer’s workshops this summer. The first, “The Basics: Memory Loss, Dementia, & Alzheimer’s Disease, is on Wednesday, July 11, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Grief support group

HONESDALE, PA — A free support group designed to help people cope with the grieving process will be offered at Wayne Memorial Hospital. The six-week session will provide support and focus on grief as a normal part of an individual’s transition through life.  The sessions will be held Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7 p.m.

HONESDALE, PA — Hard hats on and industrial pens in hand, members of the Wayne Memorial Hospital/Health System Board of Trustees signed the ceremonial “last” steel beam to be hoisted into the framework of the new patient tower.
