MONTICELLO, NY — Longtime Town of Thompson supervisor and former mayor and trustee of the Village of Monticello David Kaufman passed away at his home on June 16.

The current supervisor, William Rieber, said Kaufman served the village and town for many years and “distinguished himself for his hard work and care and concern for all town residents.”

Along with serving as mayor and supervisor, Kaufman also served as the chair of the Sullivan County Board of Supervisors.

Rieber said, “To honor his memory and service to the community, the American flag at the Town of Thompson Town Hall will be displayed at half-mast through Friday June 20.”

Kaufman was 85 years old.
