Sugar Shack Scramble, orienteering

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) will host Sugar Shack Scramble, a hike through the woods out to the Two Saps Sugar Shack, on Sunday, March 4 from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. In addition to the hiking, you’ll enjoy hot cocoa and pancakes with fresh maple syrup. You can sign up for a 9 a.m. or 9:30 a.m. start time.

Skiing and eagle watching

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — Cross-country skiing will continue at the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) in February, including a Bridge the Gap session, “Ski the McDade Trail,” which is free thanks to funding provided by the William Penn Foundation, on Saturday, February 10.

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) at 538 Emery Rd. will host cross-country skiing sessions for beginners throughout January. Dates will be Sunday, January 14 and Sunday, January 21 from 1 to 3 p.m., Saturday, January 27 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon, and Sunday, January 28 from 1 to 3 p.m.

Christmas bird count

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — The Pocono Environmental Education Center at 583 Emery Rd. will help you participate in the National Audubon Society’s 118th annual Christmas Bird Count, the longest running citizen science survey in the world. It takes place on Monday, January 1 starting at 8 a.m.

Learn to make fire without matches by employing techniques that involve sparks and found or prepared tinder. For ages 10 and over.

Fall fun at PEEC

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — There will be a Signs of Fall Hike at the Pocono Environmental Education Center (PEEC) on Sunday, October 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Guides will discuss changing animal behavior, why leaves change color, and why it’s the best season to be out and about. The cost is $5, and registration is required.
