Caregiver workshops

LIBERTY, NY — Powerful Tools for Caregivers, a free educational series designed to provide informal family caregivers with the tools needed to take care of themselves, will be offered by Cornell Cooperative Extension Sullivan County (CCESC) Caregiver Resource Center in six Friday sessions beginning May 12. Workshops will run from 10 a.m.

MONTICELLO, NY — Donate Life Day was celebrated at the Department of Motor Vehicles office on April 21. All customers were offered refreshments, plus giveaways to those who signed up to be an organ donor. As of April 24, the office had signed up 143 new organ donors. 

Looking Back

German-born Philip Neff immigrated to the U.S. in 1918. He and wife, Augusta, settled in Fosterdale in 1923 to manage the government-controlled recreation farm known then as the Worker’s Benefit Fund. There is history worthy of sharing about the Fosterdale Recreation Farm, which will follow in weeks to come.

Lopez-Janove appointed to NYCLU

SULLIVAN COUNTY,  NY — The executive director of the Sullivan County Human Rights Commission, Lorraine Lopez-Janove, has been appointed to the board of the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU), the Lower Hudson Valley Chapter. The NYCLU works to protect and defend the rights and freedoms guaranteed by the Bill of Rights, the U.S.
