PORT JERVIS, NY — The HUB at the Port Jervis Library will host a wild medicinal herbs class, taught by herbalist Nathaniel Whitmore January 17 at 6:30 p.m. in the library’s community room.

This region is home to many native wild plants used by Native Americans as remedies and cures. Colonists brought many Old World plants with them as well as introduced European plants that have since gone wild and become part of the landscape. There are even Chinese medicinal herbs growing wild here. This presentation will touch on some well-known as well as rare medicinal herbs that grow in the area, including native plants and invasive weeds.

This class is free, but registration is required. Call The Hub at 845/856-7313 ext. 5, send an email to thehub@portjervislibrary.org, or register in person at 138 Pike St.
