MILFORD, PA — The Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation will hold a 5k run/walk at the Gold Key Country Club on Sunday, September 9. The event celebrates first responders and the men and women of the military services. The foundation was created to honor the sacrifice of FDNY firefighter Stephen Siller, who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. Siller had just finished his shift with Brooklyn’s Squad 1 when the first plane hit. Determined to carry out his duty, Stephen strapped 60 pounds of gear to his back and ran through the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel, which had been closed for security purposes, to the Twin Towers, where he perished.
Programs include the Smart Home Program, which builds specially adapted custom-designed smart homes for our nation’s most catastrophically injured service members; and the Fallen First Responders Home Program, which offers financial assistance to the families of firefighters, police officers and other first responders lost in the line of duty.
Registration for the 5k run/walk is now officially open and participants can register online at T2Trun.org. The event will start at 9:30 a.m., at 106 Long Tavern Way, and the course will wind around Gold Key Lake and finish at the beach/deck area.
