JEFFERSONVILLE, NY — Longtime tai chi teacher Lenny Friedland will present a free demonstration class of tai chi on Wednesday, November 7, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at the Janice Center.
A recent article in The New York Times highlighted the benefits tai chi, a series of slow, gentle movements that are learned in sequence. It is suitable for people of all ages and condition; no special equipment is required. Once you have learned the movements, tai chi can be practiced.
Friedland has been teaching tai chi in New York City since 1999. “I tried other classes, but it was Lenny’s approach that finally worked for me,” says Narrowsburg resident Naomi Holoch. “He brings together patience, precision and—importantly!—fun.”
Classes will continue to meet every Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.; the cost is $10 a week. If you can’t make it to the demo, students can still join the class throughout the month of November. “The class progresses fairly slowly at first, so you’ll be able to catch up,” Friedland says.
