Sullivan County resident turns 100

MONTICELLO, NY — Longtime Sullivan resident Vidii Tu celebrated her 100th birthday last week with friends and family.

Tu was born in the St. Thomas Virgin Islands on January 7, 1919. She later moved to New York City, and lived for some time in Amityville, Long Island with her husband. She has lived in Sullivan County for 48 years, and worked as a residential advisor at the Delaware Valley Job Corps for about 13 of them.

Tu is a mother of five, grandmother of 11 and great grandmother to 18 children. On her way to a birthday celebration with her family, she joked about having trouble telling them apart. I’m thankful to God,” Tu said, and, asked if she had any birthday message or advice on a long and happy life, added, “just, everybody be kind.”
