MONTICELLO – Roberta Chambers, left, is the proud proprietor of Jamaican Rhythms, which held its official grand opening on June 28. Members of the Sullivan County Visitors Association and the Sullivan County Chamber were in attendance. She is pictured with her cashier and right-hand woman Sandra White.
The storefront restaurant, located at 422 Broadway in Monticello, features authentic Jamaican food and soft drinks. Chambers, who immigrated to the US in 1984, came to this country as a teacher, trained and worked as a nurse and is now a licensed practicing lawyer.
“I’ve always enjoyed cooking, she said, “Restaurants are a lot of work,” she said, “and they are fun!”
