Build your own solar USB charger

HONESDALE, PA — You can learn how to build a solar-powered charging station for your cell phone and other devices at the Stourbridge Project on August 27 from 4 to 7 p.m.

Workshop Description: The workshop gives the participant an understanding of all the components required to produce a portable USB power source and storage device. On completion of the workshop, students will be able to understand how to hook up a simple solar cell, understand how to construct a fused lithium-ion battery pack (Tesla approach), understand Li-ion battery ratings, understand the concept of maximum power point for a solar cell and a module used to gain it, understand battery ratings, be able to solder electronic modules and be able to build their own USB chargers or solar chargers.

Instructor Anthony Komar is an experienced electronics, software and systems engineer with experience that includes delivering training material at GE, Ford, CAT, Bombardier, and Visteon. Komar has served as leader in local Scouting organizations.
