Tri-Valley Lions Club receives grant

FALLSBURG, NY — The Tri-Valley Lions Club (TVLC) received a $2,000 grant from the Brandel-Murphy Youth Foundation. The grant will go toward the trail project at the Benjamin Cosor Elementary School (BCES). Leah Exner is the trails coordinator, a BCES teacher and 20-year member of the TVLC. The hiking trail will soon be open to all residents of Sullivan County for use during non-school hours.



Fish fry dinner prepared and served by veterans

WURTSBORO, NY — On Friday, April 12 from 4 to 6:30 p.m., the Wurtsboro American Legion Post 1266 is hosting a dinner prepared and served by veterans. All proceeds support local food banks and programs for veterans throughout Sullivan County. Dinners cost $12. Call 845/701-1175 to make a reservation.



Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum to kick off trout season

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — On Saturday, April 6 from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m., the Catskill Fly Fishing Center and Museum (CFFCM) will host “First Cast” to mark the first weekend of trout season. Rep. Antonio Delgado will join the official “First Cast” celebration at 9:30 a.m. on Wulff Run, upstream of the CFFCM bridge. At 10 a.m., there will be soup, coffee and cookies. A tour of the bamboo rod shop will take place at 1 p.m.



Final first Friday of season at Calder Cafe

EQUINUNK, PA — On Friday, April 5 at 6:30 p.m., the Equinunk Historical Society’s Calder Cafe is hosting its last First Friday of the season. Music will start at 7:15 p.m. The event is free, and light refreshments are available for purchase. New performers, acoustic only, are encouraged to call Pat to secure a spot on the roster at 570/224-0223.



Calling employers for ‘Working Pike’ Job Fair

MATAMORAS, PA — On Tuesday, April 16 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Best Western Inn at Hunts Landing is holding the Working Pike Job Fair. Tables for employers looking to recruit workers cost $55. Job-seekers from Pike, Monroe, Wayne, Sullivan, Orange and Sussex counties will be in attendance and will receive free admission to the event. Last year’s event drew over 400 job-seekers. Wildlife photography exhibition

HURLEYVILLE, NY — On Saturday, April 6 from 4 to 6 p.m., the Hurleyville Arts Centre and Gallery 222 will present Kyle Dudgeon’s “Ever Wonder?” The opening reception is free and open to the public, and the exhibit will show until April 30. Dudgeon is a 21-year-old wildlife photographer from Orange County. In combination with his photography, he works toward conservation efforts.



Penny social to benefit scholarship fund

WHITE LAKE, NY — On Saturday, March 30 at 6 p.m., the Bethel Youth Scholarship Committee will hold their annual penny social to benefit their scholarship fund. Calling begins at 7 p.m. Admission is $1, and proceeds from this event will fund scholarships awarded to two or three graduates from Bethel, Monticello, Liberty and Sullivan West school districts.
