SUNY Sullivan and the day of festivals

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — Saturday, May 4, will be a busy day at SUNY Sullivan’s campus.

In addition to Discover SUNY Sullivan Day, a day for prospective students to become familiar with the college, the Fisher-Healy Film Festival, the annual kite festival and a student/faculty art show will take place.

The kite festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the outdoor courtyard. The first 200 children in attendance will receive free kites, compliments of the Sullivan Catskills Visitors Association and SUNY Sullivan. The festival includes professional kite-flying demonstrations, music, and jewelry, craft and food vendors.

The Fisher-Healy Film Festival, presented by the college’s Media Arts: Digital Storytelling Program, will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. It will feature student films, music videos, documentary films and community submissions. There will also be a memorial video for professor Scott Healy who taught the program since 1987 and passed away in February; the festival was recently renamed to include his name.

The student/faculty art show will take place in the lobby of Building D. The show will feature the creative work from students in drawing, design and color, computer graphics/graphic design and photography classes. Liberty High School students will also showcase their photography works in the show.

New to the art show this year will be a pop-up fashion show, beginning at 1:30 p.m., featuring the art and fashion design of SUNY Sullivan alum Naomi Fitzgerald.
