Summer internships for Wayne Pike college students

WAYNE COUNTY, PA — The Wayne-Pike Workforce Alliance will help 22 Wayne County college students find a paid summer internship within their field. Internships will provide 24-40 hours of work per week with a minimum pay of $10.35 an hour.

National Healthcare Decisions Day

HARRIS, NY — On Tuesday, April 16 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Catskill Regional Medical Center will participate in National Healthcare Decisions Day to highlight the importance of advance healthcare decision-making.

Catskill Regional will provide information and tools for advance-care planning and advance directive forms at its Harris campus cafeteria. It will also offer the same free information and forms at its Primary and Urgent Care Office in Monticello, NY.

RISE Program hosts 8th annual awareness walk

MONTICELLO, NY — On Thursday, April 25 at the Sullivan County Government Center, the RISE Program at Catskill Regional Medical Center will host its eighth annual RISE Above Sexual Assault Together Walk to raise awareness in stopping sexual assault and gender violence. Walker registration begins at 4:30 p.m. and the event will commence at 5:15. The event will include raffles, recognition for the largest team and refreshments. All funds raised will go directly to benefit the RISE Program of Sullivan County.

The RISE program of Sullivan County advocates for survivors of sexual abuse and provides free individual and group counseling, as well as advocacy and the accompaniment of survivors to emergency departments, police stations and for court appearances.

People interested in participating in the RISE Walk can register in advance by visiting www.crmcny.org/rise-walk or by calling the RISE office at 845/794-3300 ext. 2440. Registration costs $20, and walkers are encouraged to raise money by securing pledges. Pledge forms are available online, as are the tools to set up personal online fundraising pages.

Biondo Foundation accepting summer camp applications

MILFORD, PA — The Biondo Foundation sent more than 100 children to camp last year and is accepting applications for its 2019 program until May 1. The

Ingeborg A. Biondo Foundation was initiated to provide funding for tri-state area children with physical, neurological or developmental challenges to experience summer camp.

Monthly book sale

EQUINUNK, PA — The Manchester Community Library will hold its first monthly book sale on Saturday, April 20. The sale will run every third Saturday throughout the summer months. Hard-covers cost $.50 each and paperbacks five for $1.

Mindfulness program

MONTICELLO, NY — Beginning on Tuesday, April 23, Pamela Zaitchick will present a mindfulness program on the fourth Tuesday of each month at the Ethelbert B. Crawford Public Library at 6 p.m.

Promptness is a must, and space for this program is limited. The act of mindfulness—being present in the moment and doing so in a group setting—can be comforting and rewarding.
