The extraordinary Milanville Bridge

My favorite place in the Upper Delaware Valley is a picturesque eddy of flat water above Skinners Falls, known since the 1870s as the “Milanville Eddy.” Here log rafts were pegged together starting in Colonial times, and river men paused to gauge water levels before confronting Skinners Falls.

New Pond Eddy Bridge advances

POND EDDY, NY — Work on the new Pond Eddy Bridge is moving into the next phase of constructions.  That involves moving the rock causeway away from the New York side of the Upper Delaware River so the river flows on that side of the river.  Meanwhile workers will build a temporary rock wall or causeway on the Pennsylvania side of the river to aid
