SUNY foundation golf tournament

CALLICOON, NY — SUNY Sullivan Foundation will hold its 18th annual golf tournament at the Villa Roma Country Club on Tuesday, June 20. The event, dubbed the “Start of Something Great Tournament,” raises funds for the foundation’s scholarship program. Registration and lunch begin at 11 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m.

DINGMANS FERRY, PA — Join the Delaware Highlands Conservancy for a Native Plants Walk on Saturday, June 24 at Camp Speers YMCA from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Renowned author and botanist Dr. Ann Rhoads will lead the walk and answer your questions about native plants and their habitats.

In the interest of full disclosure, I will admit that I am not wild about birds. Oh, they’re fine up in the trees or flitting about, soaring through the sky overhead, but when they get in my personal space? Different story. Honestly, I have never understood the allure of keeping birds inside and loathe the idea of caging them.

County chorus celebrates 40th

WOODBOURNE, NY — The Sullivan County Community Chorus has been going for 40 years now, and will be celebrating with something special for its spring concert, scheduled for this Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Met, live in HD at SUNY

LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — SUNY Sullivan will host two encore presentations of “The Met: Live in HD” on June 10 and June 24 at 12 noon in the Seelig Theater. The performances are part of the Metropolitan Opera’s award-winning series of live simulcasts.
