Homeless federation dinner

MONTICELLO, NY — The Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless is hosting a “Fuel the Federation” chicken dinner with all the fixings on Friday, November 2 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the federation’s 9 Monticello St. location. Attendees can dine in or take out, and curbside service will be available. Proceeds will help offset fuel costs for the heating season.

According to director Kathy Kreiter, the federation provides a warming-station opportunity not only to the homeless but also to all Sullivan County residents in need, including senior citizens and others on fixed incomes. By providing a warming center, the federation helps residents lower their energy costs by providing a warm place for them to stay part of the day, allowing them to turn down thermostats at home. Benefits include socialization and access to other important services that assist them in maintaining their independence.

Sponsors for the dinner include Murray’s Chicken and Zakarin & Sons. Anyone bringing food donations will be entered for a special door prize raffle. For more information call 845/794-2604.

‘Dynamic Duos’ event benefits homeless

GLEN SPEY, NY — The Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless will hold a dinner gala honoring “Dynamic Duos” who are long-time supporters of the organization on Saturday, October 27 at the Mountainview Manor. Tickets to the gala cost $75 each and include a scrumptious cocktail party with open bar in addition to a delicious dinner. All proceeds will directly benefit the Sullivan County Federation for the Homeless and those they serve.

The duos to be honored are Anthony and Nancy Kane, Edward and Colleen Cooke, and Ron and Eileen Geysen. “Powerhouse couples like these truly make an impact in the community.” said director Kathy Kreiter. “I think when you do it together, a volunteer effort becomes larger than the sum of its parts.”
