CALLICOON, NY — The hamlet of Callicoon becomes a Victorian holiday wonderland on Saturday, December 8, during Dickens on the Delaware, hosted by the Callicoon Business Association. The day will feature strolling carolers from the NACL Theatre and the Delaware Valley Opera Company, horse-and-buggy rides, local shopping and dining, as well as childrens’ activities.
The newly opened Flea Market on Lower Main street will offer a holiday crafting session for children, and cookie decorating will be available at the Western Sullivan Public Library. A candy cane hunt hosted by the Grinch and his dog Max will take place at the Delaware Youth Center at 1 p.m. At The Western Hotel ballroom, local vendors and artists will be selling their wares, with a gift-wrapping station available downstairs in the hotel lobby. From 1 to 5 p.m., you can drop off coats at the Callicoon Theater for those in need this winter. The Rafters Tavern—formerly Sidetracks on Upper Main Street—will transform into “Fizzywigs” for a Victorian cocktail hour featuring live fiddle music, and after dark stay tuned for live music at the Callicoon Brewing Company.
