Children’s authors at Signature Gifts
NARROWSBURG, NY — The Delaware Valley Arts Alliance will host two book signings at Signature Gifts on Main Street in Narrowsburg this month, in addition to offering new items by regional makers through the holiday season.
On Sunday, December 9 at 2 p.m., Helena Clare Pittman will read from and sign copies of her acclaimed children’s book “A Grain of Rice.” Now with a newly refreshed design, this mathematical folktale tells the story of a clever farmer who outwits the Emperor of China and becomes the wealthiest man in the world—all starting with one grain of rice. Pittman will talk about the process of illustrating a book, sharing original art and sketches, and will discuss the way “A Grain of Rice” took shape as a story. Pittman is the author of numerous books for children, including “The Snowman’s Path,” “The Angel Tree” and “Once When I Was Scared.”
On December 16 at 2 p.m., writer and illustrator Paul Plumadore will sign copies of his new book “Unthinkable,” which blends the fairy tale genre with fable and Victorian collage to tell the story of a young orphaned girl. Plumadore has been making collage art since 1975 and was named “Upcoming Illustrator” by Art Direction Magazine.
Signature Gifts is located at 37 Main St. Holiday hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 845/252-7576 or visit delawarevalleyartsalliance.org.
