BETHANY, PA — Bethany Public Library will welcome its guest speaker—the New York-based actor, Alan Muraoka who for 20 years has portrayed “Alan,” the proprietor of Mr. Hooper’s Store on Sesame Street—at the library’s annual fall dinner on Sunday, November 11. Muraoka is the creator, driving force and current member of a group called The Humans of Sesame Street. He will offer a behind-the-scenes perspective on the human characters who appear side by side with the iconic Muppets on the longest running children’s program on television.
Local chef Marcia Dunsmore will prepare a gourmet fall-harvest feast for the event.
To end the evening, there will be a live auction, featuring a painting (1983) of Bethany Library by artist Howard D. Becker (1914–1995), who, though widely traveled, made Honesdale his home.
The event will be held at the Highlights Foundation’s Conference Center, The Barn at Boyds Mills, from 4 to 7 p.m. Tickets cost $65 and usually sell out before the event. For information call 570/253-4349.
