‘Public Spaces/Private Places’
MILFORD, PA — The Artery Gallery’s October show, titled “Public Spaces/Private Places,” features the artwork of painter Kate Horan and photographer Randall Fitzgerald. It will run from Thursday, October 11 through Thursday, November 5, with a reception on Saturday, October 13 from 6 to 9 p.m.
Horan’s passion is the figure. Through invention and observation, she creates images that reflect caring, contentious, vulnerable, elusive, complicated human beings. Sometimes she veers toward social commentary. Sometimes it’s an intimate view into the interior of a single figure. Her artwork is semi-abstract. Painting and drawing merge with her use of sensitive thick/thin line and splotches of color instinctively but strategically placed. Realism is not her goal, more the interrupted image.
Fitzgerald is a biologist, behavioral ecologist and environmental educator at Montclair State University. His love of the natural world has permeated both his professional and artistic life, and consequently most of his artwork reflects the intimacy he enjoys with the natural world. He utilizes his camera to capture images from the natural world, imports them into a digital painting program and uses a wide variety of digital brushes to paint the images.
The Gallery is located at 210 Broad St. For more information call 570/409-1234 or visit arterygallerymilford.com.
