It’s no secret that I’m a bit high strung, but I learned long ago that pharmaceuticals are not the answer for what ails me. I used to apologize for my idiosyncrasies, but the older I get—well, what would Popeye say? My friend Lynne was just here for a visit, and it was nice to have company for the last few days.

Art and Antique Show

HONESDALE, PA — On Saturday, July 14 and Sunday, July 15, the Women’s Club of Honesdale will hold its annual Art and Antique show at the Wayne Highlands Middle School. It will feature over 50 dealers, local artists, on-site restoration, appraisals at $5 per item and the Wayne Memorial Hospital Auxiliary annual  consignment show (see page 14).

WSPL summer reading program

WESTERN SULLIVAN COUNTY, NY — During this year’s Western Sullivan Public Library summer reading program, kids can come study with the National Park Service, practice on all sorts of percussion instruments, take turns writing songs, do a little yoga, play at some theatre, have a parade and then bring it all together with a dance party.

‘Rabbit Hole’ at the Rivoli

SOUTH FALLSBURG, NY — The Sullivan County Dramatic Workshop will present “Rabbit Hole,” winner of the 2007 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, on July 13 through 15, 20 and 22 at the Rivolie Theatre. David Lindsay-Abaire’s play is an intensely emotional examination of grief, laced with wit, insightfulness, compassion and honesty.

Pedal steel guitar at concert

BETHEL, NY — Sullivan County musician Jay Ganz will give a concert performance on pedal steel guitar on Wednesday, July 4 at the historic Bethel Presbyterian Church. Ganz has been performing in bands for over 30 years. The pedal steel guitar is a console-type of guitar with pedals and levers added to allow for more varied and complex music.
