Trout go wild in Manor

LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — The Catskill Art Society (CAS) will present the 15th annual Trout Parade on Saturday, June 9, rain or shine. Local art, crafts, children’s activities, specialty foods from area vendors and beer from nearby breweries are highlights every year. This year’s theme is “Wild Trout”—referencing and bringing awareness to the wild ecology of the surrounding area.

The fun begins at the festival headquarters inside the CAS Arts Center from 11 a.m. on, where you can show off your costume and have your instant portrait taken by Jill Smith Photography. Be sure to grab a collectible screen-printed T-shirt or limited edition hat as your souvenir for the day. At 12 noon, live music begins outside on the Main Street Stage to get everyone ready for the parade to step off at 1 p.m.

There will be a wide variety of classic cars, music, floats celebrating local businesses, community organizations and performers including the Catskill Puppet Theater, NACL Theatre Company, Paprika and Bud Wertheim’s famous Giant Brook Trout Puppet. Sullivan County citizens and benefactors such as Jeff Bank, the Catskill Fly Fishing Center, and the Livingston Manor Rotary Club are expected to march down Main Street and showcase their wild floats.

After the parade, stay on Main Street for more live music. This year’s after-party will be at the Catskill Brewery just up the road—then you can head back to Main Street for the after-after-party at Kaatskeller.

Proceeds will benefit the Livingston Manor Central School Art and Music programs. For more information visit TroutParade.com, call 845/436-4227, or email troutparade@catskillartsociety.org.
