LIVINGSTON MANOR, NY — Catskill Art Society will present “spice cobra scrambles,” an exhibition of work by Brooklyn-based artist Mark Cannariato, at the CAS Art Center at 48 Main St., starting on Saturday, February 3. The exhibition will be on view through March 17. There will be an artist’s talk on February 3 at 1 p.m. followed by an opening reception from 2 to 4 p.m.

Born and raised in southeastern Louisiana, Cannariato developed his processbased practice while living along the Gulf of Mexico. The artist stitches together painted canvases, sculpture and forms to produce ambiguous and seductive narratives on makeshift dioramas. Allured by the rawness of old western movies, history of the West Indies, Caribbean history and sci-fi comics, the artist uses these tropes to open the imagination of viewers.
