HONESDALE, PA — Enjoy a night at The Cooperage, 1030 Main St., for its Shakespeare on Film series on Thursday, March 29 at 7 p.m. This month’s film features “The Taming of the Shrew,” one of Shakespeare’s great comedies.
Dr. Robert Dugan will introduce the play with a brief background and orientation. For centuries there have been countless different interpretations of Shakespeare’s plays. They are constantly revealing themselves in light of new perspectives and varied settings, from the Victorian Era to the 21st century. “You can do anything to Shakespeare,” Dr. Dugan says, “except change the words. Once you alter the language, it is no longer Shakespeare.”
After the screening, there will be an opportunity for impressions and sharing. Donations will be collected at the door.
The Cooperage is operated by the The Cooperage Project, a not-for-profit organization that seeks to build community through performance events, learning opportunities, markets and good times. For more information visit www.thecooperageproject.org or call 570/253-2020.
