MILFORD, PA — The 2018 Milford Music Festival takes place Friday through Sunday this weekend, featuring free musical performances all over town. The event was first established in 2002 as the Milford Jazz Festival, but has since expanded, and you are now just as likely to find blues, rock and pop playing as traditional jazz. In addition, local restaurants, artisans and shops will set up on the streets of town, often running specials for festival-goers. More than 20 local businesses participate. Among the events will be a Strawberry Festival and Flea Market on Saturday, and on both Saturday and Sunday, Renegade Winery of Stroudsburg will be at the Milford Craft Show to host a free wine tasting from 1 to 4 p.m. Also on Saturday, Obi Kaye’s Dark Side of the Cool will perform in the Milford Craft Show garden from 4  to 6 p.m. On Sunday, Music in the Park presents Joe Ferry’s Big Ska Band and Veronica Fernandez from 2 to 4 p.m. Ukulele songstress Fernandez will open the show, then Big Ska Band (www.joeferryofficial.com) will perform reggae, ska, pop, funk and soul music including original songs, classic hits and deep cuts. The line-up for the show includes Grammy award-winning producer, author, artist, musician and band leader Dr. Joe Ferry, Alan Jax Bowers, Dan Kottmann and Neal Spitzer. Local artist Jesse Clemente will create art live in the park during the concert, and complimentary painting materials will be provided for kids attending.
