BARRYVILLE, NY — The Delaware Company, the not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting and supporting the history and historical landmarks of the Upper Delaware and Sullivan County, will hold the 2018 Magical History Tour bus trip on Saturday, June 16.
This year’s tour will leave from and return to the Minsink Battleground Park in Minisink Ford, just five miles upriver from Barryville. The journey will take in the hamlets of Barryville, Pond Eddy and Glen Spey and for the first time ever will venture into Orange County to visit Port Jervis and Cuddebackville.
Highlights of this year’s tour include the Minisink Battleground, the Delaware Aqueduct and the D&H Canal, the Mackenzie mansions in Glen Spey, and the silent movie-making of film pioneer D.W. Griffith, “the man who invented Hollywood.” A visit to the Neversink Valley Museum of History and Innovation in Cuddebackville is also included.
The cost is $45, which includes lunch and admission to the museum. There is only one tour this year, rather than the morning and afternoon trips that have occurred in the past, so seating is more limited than usual. Seats will not be reserved until your payment is received. Email debrarconway@hotmail.com.
