LOCH SHELDRAKE, NY — There will be a screening of the documentary “Gather Our Hearts at Standing Rock” on Wednesday, April 19 at 6:30 p.m. at SUNY Sullivan’s Seelig Theater, 112 College Rd. The hour-long screening will be followed by a discussion and Q & A with Fidel Moreno, Wes Gillingham from Catskill Mountainkeeper and Iris Fen Gillingham of Earth Guardians SUNY Sullivan.

The film includes interviews with a range of First Nation people and non-native supporters. This project chronicles the story of the Water Protectors at Standing Rock and the struggle to protect the Missouri River, their source of drinking water, from the construction of the Dakota Access Pipeline. Attendees will learn about the history of U.S and tribal relations that culminate in North Dakota with hundreds of tribes.

The prayerful gathering at Standing Rock is an important milestone in American history, not just for Native people, but all Americans. The same oil will be traversing New York State on our railways and a similar pipeline being proposed in the Hudson Valley.
