HONESDALE, PA — On Sunday, January 8 at 3 p.m., Riverfolk Concerts at The Cooperage, 1030 Main St., will host a co-bill of Americana folk music and dance. The Michigan-based roots duo Red Tail Ring will share the stage with California’s neo-traditional musicians/dancers Evie Ladin & Keith Terry. The afternoon of music will feature both new songs and traditional American tunes and ballads, rhythmically wrought by banjo, fiddle, guitar, bass, vocals and percussive dance.
With guitar, banjo, fiddle and mandolin, along with close harmony singing, Laurel Premo and Michael Beauchamp—Red Tail Ring—“don’t just pay homage to vintage folk and roots music: The Kalamazoo duo breathes new life into it, channeling the power and charm of seminal material into their own original songs.” — John Sinkevics, LocalSpins.com.
Innovative musicians/dancers with a quirky neo-traditional bent, Oakland, California-based Evie Ladin & Keith Terry throw down original folk songs and deep interpretations of old songs. “Ladin sings and plays infectious clawhammer banjo, while Terry is a master percussionist. It was Appalachian string band music pared to the absolute minimum of accompaniment, but packed with an orchestra’s worth of rhythm.” — Music City Roots, Nashville.
Tickets to the show cost $20 in advance, $25 at the door. For reservations, call 845/252-6783. For more information on RiverFolk Concerts visit riverfolkconcerts.com. For more information about the musical acts, visit www.redtailring.com and www.evieladin.com.
