HONESDALE, PA — You can kick up your heels at The Cooperage, 1030 Main St., on Saturday, November 26, at a contra dance that runs from 7:30 to 10 p.m.

Contra dancing is a form of traditional American set dancing, similar to square dancing. You and your partner dance a series of figures, or steps, with each other and with another couple. The instructions given by the caller form a series of repeating figures that dancers eventually memorize.

Music will be provided by Poison Love. Members of the band are Dan Brinkerhoff on fiddle, Joanne Wasserman-Brinkerhoff on guitar, Roger Brinkerhoff on bass and mandolin. Caller Laurie B. will make sure you know just what steps to take and when to swing your partner.

Come with or without a partner. Beginners are welcome. The suggested donation is $10, free for kids under 15. Dress in casual clothing and wear comfortable shoes. For more information visit www.thecoo perageproject.org or call 570/253-2020.
