GRAHAMSVILLE, NY — You can swing your partner at the 1930s Catskill Farm Hoedown on Saturday, July 28 from 6 to 10 p.m. at the Time and the Valleys Museum on State Route 55. Back in the 1930s, neighbors, family and friends had good times socializing and dancing to live music during warm summer evenings. This event will recreate those times.

Held outdoors behind the museum, the hoedown features old-time country music by the Country Travelers with Paul Lounsbury, Bob Hunt, Dave Trestyn, Bill Engle and Patty Legg, and both dancing and square dancing (called by Patty Legg) in the museum’s restored 1870s barn.

The 1930s-themed menu, catered by the Neversink General Store, includes appetizers of beef skewers, crab cakes and deviled eggs with bacon, followed by a gourmet salad and main course of shrimp scampi, chicken in wine sauce, or spaghetti and meatballs, finished up with pie a la mode.

To round out the old-time evening there will be a pie auction, a special sneak peek at the upcoming 1930s Catskill Farm (opening to the public this September), and a few games of horseshoe toss.

Tickets to the Hoedown cost $30 per person and $35 at the door. They can be purchased by visiting www.timeandthe valleysmuseum.org or sending a check to  Time and the Valleys Museum, PO Box 254, Grahamsville, NY 12740. For more information or to get tickets call 845/985-7700. Transportation will be available up the hill to the barn from the main museum building if needed. For more information visit www.timeandthevalleys museum.org.
