HONESDALE, PA — There will be a bus tour to nine historic sites relating to the D&H Canal Company’s Gravity Railroad between Carbondale and Honesdale, and its canal between Honesdale and Lackawaxen, on Sunday, April 29 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The cost is $45 per person, which includes admissions and a sit-down lunch at Cora’s 1850 Bistro in Hawley.

The 29-passenger bus will leave Wayne County Visitors Center’s lower parking lot on Commercial Street at 9 a.m. and travel to the monument at Carbondale’s gravity plane #1, where Dr. Robert Powell will speak about the site and be the tour guide for the day. The bus will return to Honesdale at 3:45 p.m., where an optional tour of Wayne County Historical Society’s main museum, including its D&H Canal exhibit, awaits the travelers.

Tickets can be purchased at 570/253-3240 Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., or mail your check and lunch selection and phone number (turkey and brie sandwich, roast beef and cheddar melt, or garden salad with chicken and mushrooms) to WCHS, PO Box 446, Honesdale, PA 18431.
