NARROWSBURG, NY — The Big Eddy Film Festival will open on Friday, September 15 at 8 p.m. with the Catskills premiere of the “The Boy Downstairs.”
Autumn in New York is the setting for this fresh romantic comedy from first-time writer director Sophie Brooks. Zosia Mamet (best known for her starring role on HBO’s “Girls”) stars as a single girl looking for an apartment in Brooklyn. She moves into the perfect place, but things turn complicated when she discovers her downstairs neighbor is her ex-boyfriend (Matthew Shear) whose heart she broke years ago. Like a true New Yorker, she keeps the apartment.
That’s just the beginning of the festival, which runs through Sunday, September 17 and will show two dozen brand-new narratives, documentaries, shorts and videos for kids, as well as a retrospective screening of an underappreciated Disney animated masterpiece.
Opening night tickets cost $15. Other film tickets cost $10. Also available are special All-Access Festival Passes for $100 (a $60 savings), which include admission to the Saturday evening Meet the Filmmakers cocktail part and a complimentary BEFF tote bag.
All screenings take place at the Tusten Theatre, 210 Bridge St. For more information and tickets, visit BigEddyFilmFest.com or call 845/252-7576.
